| Well done to everyone who attended the grading competition at Wisbech today. Nightlfyers sent a small team along to this event, but came away with three medals and three qualifying scores, so a good result for the club. Jodie kicked the day off for us, with her first time competing grade G and only her second ever competition. Her first routine went really well, putting her in a well deserved 2nd place. For her vol though, she decided to split the full twist over two bounces! This meant that she dropped out of the medals. Better luck next time eh? That first routine was great. Next we had Jasmine who performed a beautiful pair of routines to get a 2nd place trophy and a deserved qualification. No excuses now - let's nail that back SS and barani! Becky was truly on form in her 'entertaining mode' next. The ball-out success of the last practice session deserted her, but it made for a great video! It was up to Kieran to redeem our reputation (once we'd managed to stop Helen giggling at Becky). He delivered two very well controlled routines to acheive our second medal placing and a qualifying score in the U15 Grade Gs. Hot on his heels came Matthew, competing for the first time and hoping to emulate his sister's success (but without the falling off the end-deck part). After a slightly shakey set, he went on to a much improved second routine which would have got him a trophy had the first routine been as good. |
| We had 4 more entrants in the afternoon session. Taking part for the first time, Sian did really well to complete both routines tidily. The improvement she has made over the past month has been remarkable - well done. She even got a trophy for her efforts! Back on panel one, Sophie was trying out her new vol for the first time. She completed it safely, but now needs to tidy up those bendy knees and point her toes! Rounding off the event, we had Amy and Grace in the U13 grade H. Both girls put in neat routines, but in a large group with only 0.9 marks separating 4th from 10th place, the middle rankings were always going to be a bit of a lottery. In the end, Grace was narrowly ahead after round 1, but Amy really pulled the stops out with an excellent vol, to finish just outside the medals, but with a qualifying score. |

Commiserations to Katie who was unable to compete following her mishap on Friday - but we really appreciate you coming along anyway to support the rest of the team. The usual big thanks to Helen and Toni for running the team and Lucy for recording.
