Sports Acts Event: Thursday 28th July | Posted 19h July 2005 |
CHELSEA LEGEND MEANS BUSINESS FOR MERCURY HOUSE CHARITY FOOTBALL TEAM. |
| Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris will be at the Harvey Haddon Sports Centre on Thursday 28th July to manage a 6-a-side football team – called Chopper’s Mercury Marvels – made up of staff and tenants from Mercury House, based at Shipstones Business Centre. |
| The match – taking place between 6.15 and 7.15 pm – against rivals Castle Cavendish, has been organised to raise £500 for the Night Flyers Trampoline Club, who are based at Harvey Haddon and are a beneficiary of the SportActs charity, operating from Mercury House. SportActs’ President, Mr. Colin Slater MBE will present a cheque to Night Flyers coach Toni Jantschenko after the football match. The donation is significant because it means SportActs will have topped the £100,000 mark – benefiting various local causes – in just over two years. |
| The winners of the match will be presented with the Annual SportActs Champions Trophy by Chopper; he made a record 795 appearances for Chelsea over 21 years and is a vice-president of SportActs as well as a partner of Chopper Harris Promotions (CHP) along with SportActs’ chairman Paul Lowe; CHP donates 25% of its net profits to charitable causes. |
| Mercury House Manager Julia Tantum adds “As centre manager, I am particularly enthused that tenants involved with Mercury House – a business incubator centre – are uniting to participate in an event that will benefit the community; this teamwork perfectly epitomises our corporate ethos. Such has been the success of Mercury House, that we can attract such esteemed names as Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris.” |
All club members are invited to come along to the event - they're doing this for you! |
