Night Flyers had a great competition today with some excellent performances and a good haul of trophies. It's always difficult to pull out the highlights, especially when everyone does so well, but here goes.
Amy and Leah started the morning off in the U15 Grade Gs. Sadly Nina was unable to complete the team due to a sprained wrist. Amy set the standard with her first routine, and was in 2nd place going into the vols. Leah caught up here though with a brilliant vol to take 2nd place overall. Shortly after, Lucy continued her current run of success with an impressive line of 8s to take 1st place in the U13 Gs.
Next up was Jessica in her first ever competition. Despite huge nerves over her front drop, she performed beautifully to get our second 1st place of the day. Katie followed shortly after in the grade Hs and came in a respectable 6th place.
Our two grade Fs were next - and they didn't disappoint. Jodie put in a lovely pair of routines, but in a very strong class they were only good enough for a 4th place. Hollie however has really recovered her form brilliantly and led the way today with a well deserved 1st place.
After a few delays, Katie was after a qualification from grade E. Despite a good second place, she was half a mark short of the necessary score. However, the region is now running 'Qualification Panels' for such near misses. Katie did hers and boosted her score to a qualifying one.
Sophie was on next for her first time in grade D. She finished both of her routines safely to come in 4th place - a solid start at this level of competition.
Finishing off the day we had Abbie in her first ever competition and Matthew with his first grade G event. Both did well - Abbie finished her routines confidently and came in 8th, while Matthew performed two excellent routines but was narrowly beaten into second place.
This was one our strongest team performances for a while - well done everyone. Not only did you get some trophies, but almost everyone achieved qualifying scores - stunning work guys!
| As always, big thanks to Toni, Helen and Jo for keeping you all (mostly) in the right place, to Keith for judging and to Kieran and his team for organising the event. Night Flyers results are below, and you can down the full set of results in Excel format here. I'll put a few photos on here and on Facebook soon.
