| Many thanks to everyone who came along to Grimsby Leisure Centre for the first grading event of the year. Nightflyers had another great event, bringing back 6 trophies from just 8 entrants! Sophie started us off with a lovely couple of routines - her vol was especially well executed, pulling her up from 3rd to 1st place. We got a smile! Next up was Grace, competing for the first time at grade G. Despite only having got the new routine together a week before Xmas, she won her class, finishing a full point clear of the next person. (Yes Toni - she did remember to flap. They heard it in Doncaster). Leah and Nina were up next - both in their first Regional Grading, and they didn't disappoint. Leah kept us on the edge of our seats during her warmups, but overcame her nerves to produce a tidy pair of routines that won her a third place trophy. Nina matched her move for move, turning in identical totals for both set and vol, but just got pushed into 4th place on the tie-break countback rules. Finishing off the morning for us was Hollie, fresh from her Zonal Schools comp last weekend. Despite her relatively low tariff, her tidy execution pushed her up into a well deserved 3rd place, only 0.1 off the qualifying score. On to the afternoon and the boys were competing in the U15 Grade H, which Lucas won convincingly, despite his very clean routines not really being given the scores they deserved (but then I'm biassed!) Matthew made a super effort and cleaned up his routines really well to come in 5th place. He's promised to leave me in a trail of his tyre smoke if I ever challenge him to a karting race! Finally after waiting all day, (and desperate to get home for her party), Katie was on in the 15+ Grade Fs. Having used her warmups to explore every corner of the trampoline and a few if its surroundings, she finally took heed of our pleadings to use the white bit in the middle, and produced a couple of great routines. Although having the lowest tariff in her class, her form marks were good enough to qualify in 2nd place. So, a massive well done to all of you - hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. See you at the next one.
Thanks to Kevin and the rest of the Grimsby team for running the comp, to Keith for helping with the computers and Jo for coaching assistance. |
